Column is a view only field showing the name of the data element as found in your source table or file.
Type is a view only field showing the data type of the element in your source table or file.
Active gives you the ability simple disable source columns from flowing through to the target. You can even enable or disable this Active setting for the audit fields here (see Display Only Audit Fields below).
PK is used to set the primary key (PK) fields to use for incremental mapping executions.
Target Schema lets you specify a different target schema, should you have schema names that differ for some reason. For example, we have some customers that use naming conventions such as DW_DEV, DW_TEST, DW_PROD to avoid confusion for their database users and DBAs.
Target Table allows you to change the target table name directly on the Mapping Elements section of the Edit Mapping page.
Column gives you the ability to change any or all columns names on the target that will be created when this mapping is run.
Type lets you change the data type of the column on the target. The data type defaults based upon a combination of the source database type and column type, as well as the target database type. If you prefer or need a different datatype than the default option for your source and target, then select another option from the provided select list.
Syntax lets you add more precise data definition language, such as a scale and precision for numeric values shown below.
When the audit features are enabled you will see the auto-generated audit columns, which are Active unless you already disabled generation of the audit fields in Generate Mapping. You can set them to Active or Inactive here using the Active check-box described above. These fields represent the following:
si_job_id: the unique job id, or specific execution of an individual mapping, which generated this record in the target table
si_create_date: the date the record was created in the target by a mapping job
si_update_date: the date the record was last updated in the target by a mapping job
When viewing the Mapping Elements, you can also use the icon shown above to expand the source data element definitions, just to be certain you are selecting the proper target data definitions. Click the icon to hide them again if you need to conserve screen space to view other options on the Edit Mapping screen.
